COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 230 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 230 new Covid-19 cases, a drop of 43 cases compared to yesterday’s 273, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 66,546.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said three more deaths related to the virus were also recorded today one each in Tawau, Papar, and Semporna.


"Of the total cases, 105 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 75 were detected through cluster screening, 21 through targeted screening, 16 through symptomatic screening and 13 from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest cases with 49 followed by Kudat (43), Tawau (27), Beaufort (19), Kota Belud (17), Kalabakan (12), Penampang (10), Lahad Datu (nine), Putatan (seven), Semporna (six), Papar and Kunak (five), Tuaran, Nabawan, Sipitang and Keningau (four), Tongod (three), Sandakan and Tambunan (one).


Districts that did not recorded any cases today are Kinabatangan, Telupid, Ranau, Kota Marudu, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Tenom and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 2,051 with 519 treated at hospitals and 1,532 in quarantine centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 100 with 41 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 289 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 63,525.
