COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 254 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered 254 new Covid-19 cases, a drop of 64 cases compared to yesterday, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 62,816.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two more deaths were also recorded, one each in Kota Kinabalu and Kinabatangan.

"Of the total new cases, 184 cases were detected through close contact screening while 36 through symptomatic screening, 20 through cluster screening, eight through targeted screening and the rest from other categories.


“Tawau recorded the heighest number of cases today with 46, followed by Kunak (40), Kota Kinabalu (31), Sandakan (29), Lahad Datu (22), Papar (15), Penampang (14), Kota Belud (13), Kudat (12), Beaufort (six), Kalabakan and Semporna (five), Telupid (four), Kinabatangan (three), Putatan, Keningau, and Kota Marudu (two), Tuaran, Tenom, Tambunan (each with one case).


“Meanwhile, only seven districts did not record any cases today namely, Kuala Penyu, Ranau, Sipitang, Nabawan, Tongod, Pitas and Beluran,” he said in a statement.

Masidi who is also the state’s Covid-19 spokesperson said that currently, the number of active cases stands at 1,604 with 451 individuals at hospitals, 1,151 in quarantine centres and two in temporary detention centres.

"A total of 213 patients have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 60,165


"At the same time, 75 patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 24 of them requiring ventilator support,” he added.
