COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 298 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: The Covid-19 caseload in Sabah rose to 298 today, after registering daily cases of 271 yesterdays, pushing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 72,611.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two deaths were also recorded today with one each in Lahad Datu and Papar.
He added that 115 of the new cases stemmed from close contact screening while 94 cases were from cluster screening, 43 from targeted screening, 26 from symptomatic screening, and the rest from other categories.
"Kota Kinabalu today recorded the highest number of cases with (67), followed by Tawau (38), Keningau (37), Beaufort (36), Kudat (32), Penampang (19), Kota Belud (18), Sandakan (14), Sipitang (13), Pitas (six), Semporna (five), Tuaran (four), Papar (three), Putatan, Kota Marudu and Kinabatangan (two).
“Meanwhile, 11 other districts did not record any new cases today,” he said in a statement.
According to Masidi, the number of active cases now stands at 2,028 with 422 treated at hospitals, 1,566 in quarantine centres, and 40 in temporary detention centres.
"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 57 with 15 requiring ventilator support.
"As for recoveries, a total of 307 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 69,658."
