COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 31 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 31 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 54,001


In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two death were also recorded today each at Kinabatangan and Sandakan.



Out of the total cases today, 17 of the cases were close contacts to positive cases, one stemmed from symptomatic screening, six from existing cluster, and seven from other categories.


Tawau recorded the highest number of new cases with 11, followed by Kota Kinabalu (10), Keningau, Nabawan and Penampang (two), and Kota Marudu, Putatan, Kudat, and Tuaran each with one case.


A total of 18 districts did not record new cases, namely Sipitang, Kota Belud, Sandakan, Tenom, Papar, Beaufort, Kalabakan, Tambunan, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Telupid, Beluran, Ranau, Kunak, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Semporna, and Tongod.


"A total of 81 patients have also recovered from Covid-19. To date, a total of 53,0146 recovered cases have been recorded in Sabah.


"However, 378 patients are still receiving treatment with 160 in hospitals and the rest in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres," said Masidi.


He added that 20 of them are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU), including four requiring ventilator support.
