COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 336 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today recorded 336 new Covid-19 cases, an increase of 31 cases compared to yesterday’s 305, which pushes the cumulative of statewide infections to 64,206.


However, Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Masidi Manjun said one death related to the virus was also reported today in Kota Kinabalu.


“Of the total cases, 140 were detected through close contact screening, 117 through cluster screening, 31 through symptomatic screening, 32 through targeted screening, and 16 from other categories.


“Tawau recorded the highest number of cases today with a staggering 80 cases, followed by Papar (43), Kota Kinabalu (31), Kinabatangan (29), Sandakan (28), Kalabakan (19), Kota Belud and Lahad Datu (15), Tuaran (13), Telupid (12), Kudat and Penampang (10), Putatan (eight), Beaufort (seven), Semporna (six), Kunak (four), Kuala Penyu and Ranau (two), Pitas and Kota Marudu (one),” he said in a statement today.


Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases are Nabawan, Keningau, Tambunan, Tenom, Sipitang, Tongod, and Beluran.


Masidi who is also the Local Government and Housing Minister added that a total of 256 patients have recovered today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 61,271.


"To date, a total of 1,667 patients are still under treatment with 518 in hospitals, and 1,149 in quarantine centres.


“Currently, 88 patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 24 of them requiring ventilator support,” he said.
