Covid-19: Sabah records 516 new cases, one death

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today recorded 516 new Covid-19 cases, a slight increase of 19 cases compared to yesterday’s 497, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 77,940.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said, one death was also recorded today in Beaufort.


Of the total, 216 were detected through close contact screening, while 161 were detected through cluster screening, 90 through symptomatic screening, 13 through targeted screening and 36 from other categories.


Currently, there is no green zone left recorded today while 19 districts have been declared red zones, two orange zone and six yellow zones.


"The number of active cases now stands at 3,738 with 578 treated at hospitals, 2,240 in quarantine centres and 920 in temporary detention centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 70 with 19 requiring ventilator support," Masidi said in a statement.


As for recoveries, a total of 369 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 72,694.
