KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 60 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 59,262.

Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said 29 out of the total cases are close contacts while 21 were detected in existing clusters, six through symptomatic screening and the rest from other categories.

Only two districts recorded two-digit daily cases: Kota Kinabalu with 18 cases and Tawau with 15.

Meanwhile, four cases were recorded each in Penampang, Lahad Datu, Papar, and Kunak while Kalabakan and Kinabatangan each have three cases, Putatan has two, and Semporna, Sandakan and Keningau each have one new case.

"A total of 101 individuals have recovered and were discharged today, bringing the tally of recoveries in Sabah to 58,168.

"There are a total of 517 active cases to date with 229 treated in hospitals and 288 in quarantine centres," said Masidi in a statement today.

He added that 41 of the patients are treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 21 requiring ventilator support.
