COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 60 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today recorded 60 new Covid-19 cases, a slight drop compared to 87 cases yesterday, which brings the cumulative total of infections in the state to 59,409.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said one death was also reported today in Keningau.



Of the total of new cases, 23 were detected through close contact screening, 16 through symptomatic screening, 16 in new and existing clusters, and five from other categories.


“Tawau reported the highest number of new cases with 22, followed by Kota Kinabalu and Semporna (eight), Penampang (seven), Lahad Datu and Papar (four), Kunak (three), and Tuaran, Keningau, Putatan, and Tenom each with one case.


“Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases are Kalabakan, Kinabatangan, Beaufort, Kota Belud, Sandakan, Ranau, Beluran, Telupid, Tongod, Kudat, Pitas, Kota Marudu, Kuala Penyu, Sipitang, Nabawan, and Tambunan," he said in a statement today.



According to Masidi, the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to date is 58,320, including 104 recoveries reported today.


To date, the number of active cases stands at 530 with 244 of the patients at the hospitals and 286 in the quarantine and low-risk treatment centres.


“A total of 42 patients are currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 23 of them ventilated,” he added.
