COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 71 NEW CASES, 77 RECOVERIES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 71 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 53,864.
In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said 54 of the cases were close contacts to positive cases, five stemmed from symptomatic screening, seven from existing cluster, and five from other categories.
Keningau recorded the highest number of new cases with 25, followed by Tawau (13), Kota Kinabalu (10), Penampang and Telupid (six), Sandakan (four), Putatan and Kinabatangan (two), and Kota Belud, Beluran and Papar (one). A total of 16 districts did not record new cases, Ranau, Kudat, Kalabakan, Nabawan, Kunak, Tambunan, Kota Marudu, Tuaran, Tenom, Lahad Datu, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Semporna, Sipitang, and green zones Beaufort and Tongod. "A total of 77 patients have also recovered from Covid-19. To date, a total of 52,711 recovered cases have been recorded in Sabah. "However, 508 patients are still receiving treatment with 186 in hospitals and the rest in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres," said Masidi. He added that 17 of them are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU), including five of them requiring ventilator support.
