COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 89 NEW CASES, 162 RECOVERIES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today recorded a total of 89 new Covid-19 cases today, pushing the tally of statewide infections to 58,136.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said of the total, 48 were close contacts while 20 cases were detected through symptomatic screening, 18 in new ad existing clusters, and the rest in other categories.
"Tawau recorded the highest number of new cases with 30, followed by Lahad Datu (13), Kota Kinabalu (12), Kalabakan (nine), Kinabatangan (eight), Sandakan (five) and Kunak (four).
“Penampang and Semporna each have three new cases, while Nabawan and Papar each have one.
"Meanwhile, Tuaran, Telupid, Putatan, Beluran, Kota Belud, Keningau, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Ranau, Kudat, Sipitang, Pitas, Tambunan, Tenom, Kota Marudu and Tongod did not report any cases," he said in a statement today.
According to Masidi, the cumulative total of recoveries now stands at 56,771 with 162 patients have recovered and discharged today.
However, 718 patients are still receiving treatment with 281 at hospitals and 437 at quarantine centres.
"Fifty-one of the patients are treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 18 require ventilator support."
