Covid-19: Sabah records 965 new cases, 38 deaths

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is seeing an increase in Covid caseload with 965 new cases reported today.

However, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the number of Covid-19 death cases is still soaring high with 38 new cases reported today.


He added that of the total death cases today, Tawau recorded the highest with nine new cases, followed by Kota Kinabalu and Putatan (four), Sandakan and Kunak (three), Lahad Datu, Kota Marudu and Beaufort (two) and one each in Semporna, Keningau, Papar, Kota Belud, Tuaran, Penampang, Kudat, Ranau and Tenom.

“Close contact screening continues to record the highest number of positive cases with 566 which is of the total daily cases.

"This was followed by symptomatic screening (331), cluster screening (four), and the rest is in other categories," he said in a statement today.

Masidi who is also the Covid-19 spokesperson for Sabah said that the number of cases in Category One is 180 and in Category Two is 707, Category Three and Category Four (eight), and Category Five with three cases,” he added.

He stated that a total of 1,367 discharges were recorded today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 176,090.

The number of active cases now stands at 3,220 with1,942 patients being treated in quarantine centres, 1,232 at hospitals, eight in private facilities and the rest in temporary detention centres.

"To date, there are 139 patients currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit with 48 of them ventilated," he stated.
