KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster has emerged in Ranau today known as the Pekan Ranau cluster involving a workplace infection.

In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the new cluster was believed to have started from a private clinic before the virus has spread to its customers.

“Upon investigation, the first index case occurred when the clinic detected two of its staff member’s positive for Covid-19 through symptomatic screening on July 10.

“Therefore, close contact screening to 246 individuals have been conducted and 13 positive cases were detected,” he added.

Masidi stated that the cumulative total number of cases for the cluster is 15, with five new cases today. Meanwhile, seven cases are still waiting for result.
