PAPAR: A vibrant Kaamatan Festival was recently held at D’Familia Farmstay in Mandalipau, Papar, celebrating the spirit of unity and harmony among the local community.
United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Supreme Council Member, Marcellus Tambud, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to take part in the festivities.
He noted that the celebration not only reflects the rich cultural heritage of the local ethnic communities but also underscores the spirit of unity and togetherness among the people.
“Congratulations to the organisers and everyone involved in hosting such a lively and meaningful celebration. The continued efforts to preserve and honour our traditional heritage are truly commendable,” he said.
Marcellus also expressed his hope that the noble values and communal spirit demonstrated during Kaamatan would continue to be nurtured in the journey towards a more harmonious and united society.
Kaamatan is a significant festival for the Kadazandusun and Murut communities in Sabah, celebrated annually as an expression of gratitude for a bountiful harvest and to strengthen kinship and community bonds.
