KOTA KINABALU: Sipitang is now registered as a green zone after no more Covid-19 active cases were reported.

With the latest development, there are now a total of seven districts along with Sipitang that have been declared as green zones to date, namely Ranau, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Tongod and Beluran

For today's caseload, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the state decreased to 60 from 112 yesterday, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 55,294.

Of the total, 23 were close contacts, 13 identified from symptomatic screening, 15 from existing clusters, and nine from other categories, said Masidi in his statement today.

Tawau reported the highest number of new cases with 41, followed by Lahad Datu (eight), Tuaran (four), Kota Kinabalu and Penampang each with two, and Kunak, Keningau and Sandakan each with one.

Aside from the green zone districts, Semporna, Kinabatangan, Putatan, Kota Belud, Papar, Nabawan, Tambunan, Kalabakan, Kudat, Tenom, Kota Marudu and Beaufort did not record any new cases.

"The number of active cases now stands at 559 with 240 of the patients at the hospitals, including 39 in the intensive care unit with 13 of them ventilated, and 319 in the quarantine and low risk treatment centres.

"The cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah is 54,297 to date, including an addition of 53 recoveries reported today," Masidi stated.
