EMCO ENDS IN UMS CAMPUSES, SMK AGAMA

KOTA KINABALU: SMK Agama and campuses of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) will no longer be put under lockdown as Covid-19 cases in both the localities were reported to have been showing decrement.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in UMS campuses will be lifted up on May 2 while EMCO in SMK Agama ended today.


"A total of 5,611 tests have neem conducted in UMS campuses and 35 of them came back positive. In SMK Agama, a total of 190 individuals out of 836 screened tested positive for Covid-19.


"The health ministry reported a decrease in cases and clusters are under control with no pending test results in both localities.


"After a joint risk assessment with various agencies from the MCO Technical Committee and on the advice of the ministry, the state government has agreed to end the EMCO in these localities."
