Ewon leads UPKO delegation to pay final respects to Tan Sri Kurup

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Ewon Benedick President of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO),led a delegation of UPKO's top leadership to pay their final respects to the late Tan Sri Joseph Kurup last night.


The final respects ceremony was held at Fook Lu Siew, here.


"In leadership, the late Tan Sri had given his best to the people and our country. His passing is a great loss to the Kadazandusun community leadership," he said.


Also paying their final respects were two former Presidents of UPKO, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok and Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, Deputy President Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin, and party leadership colleagues.


Ewon and the delegation spent about an hour with Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, who is also the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia.


"I pray for Arthur and his family to be given strength and comfort in this difficult situation," he said.


Former President of the United Sabah People's Party (PBRS), Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, passed away around 7:30 pm last Tuesday at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.
