KOTA KINABALU: Upko's Tuaran MP Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau has denied a report that linked him as one of the opposition MPs in Sabah ready to join Perikatan Nasional.
In a live video posted on his Facebook account, the president of Upko said the report published around 8pm today by a local news portal was written by "an irresponsible journalist from Sabah".
He added that the desperate attempt was deliberately made by irresponsible parties to provoke instability among opposition leaders.
"I vehemently deny the allegation that I would join the Perikatan Nasional Government. I urge these parties who intentionally make the false claim to stop their irresponsible act.
"I will not hesitate to take legal action if this rumour and slander on me continues to spread around," he said in the 2 minutes long video.
Besides Madius, the portal also mentioned PKR's Putatan MP Awang Husaini Sahari as one of the two MPs who would cross over to Bersatu.
