KOTA KINABALU: The recently concluded Merdeka Mega Dive has brought the community closer to government agencies.
The one-day program, held on September 2nd at Udar Island off Sepanggar near here, was jointly organised by the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM), Kota Kinabalu Malaysian Armed Forces Hospital (HTAWKK), and Sabah State National Security Council (MKNNS).
It saw the participation of 106 divers from different backgrounds, including 30 Sabah Dive Squad Club members.
Sabah Dive Squad Club president Sim Fui said that they managed to do two dives during the event.
"The experiences of diving and interacting with navy, army, and other government agency personnel during the event are one-of-a-kind.
"Unlike leisure scuba diving, the underwater experience with navy personnel is different.
"It coincides with the Merdeka month when laypersons like us could get to know our security personnel better,” he said in a statement.
Sim said the club, also known as Deus Diving Club, aspires to ensure that its approximately 100 members have competency in scuba diving skills through frequent participation in activities.
Therefore, he thanked the organisers for the opportunities to improve its members’ skills and enhance experiences.
