NEW COVID-19 CLUSTERS DETECTED IN LAHAD DATU, TUARAN

13 April 2021 By Wartawan Nabalu News KOTA KINABALU: Two new Covid-19 clusters have been detected in Sabah today with a cumulative total of 38 positive cases. Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said, the clusters are known as the Tabanak cluster in Lahad Datu and the Kg Gayang cluster in Tuaran. "The Tabanak cluster recorded seven new cases today, bringing the cumulative total of cases to 15. "The index case of this cluster is a 39-year-old male who tested positive on April 9 after exhibiting symptoms," he said in a statement today. According to Masidi, the index case attended a tahlil ceremony on March 30 in Kg Tabanak. Following the case, a total of 88 close contacts and family members have undergone screening where 14 tested positive, 27 negative, and the rest still awaiting results. "All positive cases have been referred to Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment and the district's PPR Sri Sepagaya quarantine centre of isolation," he said. For the Kg Gayang cluster in Tuaran, a cumulative total of 23 positive cases have been recorded, including two new cases reported today. "The index case of this cluster is a 69-year-old male from Kg Gayang who tested positive through symptomatic screening on April 4. "Of 72 close contacts screened, 22 individuals were found positive for the virus," he revealed. Masidi also mentioned that the community screening in Kg Gayang has been and is still being actively conducted. "It was found that the index case attended a gathering on March 28 where about 30 other guests were present."
