NRC includes PH in discussion for the first time ever

KUALA LUMPUR: For the first time ever, the government formally invited four opposition lawmakers from Pakatan Harapan (PH) to be included in the National Recovery Council (NRC) discussion.


Among the oppositions are former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Bernard Dompok from United Progress Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), Subang MP Wong Chen from PKR, Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen from DAP, Kuala Selangor MP and former health minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad from Parti Amanah Negara.


The committee was chaired by former prime minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin and the committee had a three-hour meeting today.


On the other hand, the government bloc was represented by four ministers - Finance Minister Datuk Tengku Zafrul, Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof, Senior Education Minister Datuk Radzi Jidin, and Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.


Meanwhile, the public and private sectors were are represented by Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Dato Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, Datuk Michael Kang, Datuk Dr Habibah Rahim and Datuk Dr Hartini Zainudin.


In a statement today, PH stated that it will continue to adopt a bipartisan approach and constructively engage and take part in the national recovery process.


The next NRC meeting is expected to take place two weeks from now.
