KOTA KINABALU: Emily Bozou, the owner of Putaton Tindama Grocery Store in Penampang, was recognised as the best participant in the IBBC Grocery Store Programme, a guidance programme by the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN) in Sabah.

After participating in the programme, Emily’s sales increased by 91 percent.

The increase in sales was influenced by the technical business training component "Building SOP for Small Retail Business," which was received during the four-month duration of the program.

She also successfully applied tips for strategic and organised product arrangement, as well as meeting customer demands. Additionally, she improved financial management and expanded her network of suppliers through guidance from industry experts.

The achievements of the participants in the Profit Menu Guidance Programme for 2023 were equally impressive, with a recorded sales increase of 38 percent.

During the three-month programme, Andreyani Mohd Jafar, the owner of Dapur Ibu Ann in Tawau, was exposed to the importance of setting appropriate margins and effective cost calculations in the Advanced Profit Menu Workshop.

Learning the Profit Menu Guidance Programme for only three months allowed her to transition from food processing activities to opening a stall in front of her house, and she plans to open a cafe in the city of Tawau.

A total of 110 entrepreneurs from various districts in the state participated in two INSKEN guidance programs, namely the INSKEN Bumiputera Coaching (IBBC) and the Profit Menu Guidance Program for 2023.

The two guidance programmes successfully elevated the status of five entrepreneurs from the micro category to small enterprises.

The INSKEN guidance programme achievements also resulted in 30 new jobs through the IBBC Programme, and 28 participants introduced new food delivery platforms through the Profit Menu Guidance Program.

The INSKEN Guidance Programme graduation ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Ewon Benedick.
