Pangi Railway Disaster: JKNS Launches Probe

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Railway Department (JKNS) has announced that it is investigating an incident involving a train service and a trolley at KM134/4 on the Tenom to Pangi railway line.

In a statement, JKNS confirmed that the incident, which occurred on 3 March 2026, is being thoroughly examined. The department has activated an internal investigation through the Board of Enquiry in accordance with established procedures.

JKNS also lodged a police report at Tenom Police Station concerning the incident, to facilitate further action by authorities. The department clarified that any follow-up measures will be based on the findings of the investigation, in line with the provisions outlined in the Railway Enactment 2017.

The department expressed regret about the incident and stressed that it did not result in any loss of life.

They assured the public that both the internal investigation and police inquiries are currently ongoing.
