PENAMPANG: The Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has commended Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s RM61 billion economic transformation programme under the 13th Malaysia Plan, describing it as both bold and timely in light of ongoing global economic uncertainties.
KCCI President Datuk Ladislaus Maluda praised the Prime Minister’s strategy, citing its potential to drive greater momentum and sustained progress in the national economy.
“This comes at a time of economic instability brought on by trade tensions linked to Trump-era tariff policies and continued conflicts in Europe and the Middle East,” he said.
Among the various initiatives highlighted by the Chamber, particular emphasis was given to the revitalisation of public-private partnerships and the government's ambition to nurture 5,000 digital entrepreneurs by 2030.
Ladislaus remarked that such efforts could significantly enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness and productivity as the nation moves towards its 2030 vision.
He also welcomed the government’s forward-looking approach to managing the growing challenge of waste production, noting that private sector involvement in waste management would ease the burden on public resources while creating new economic opportunities.
“Encouraging private sector participation not only adds value to the economy but also aligns with sustainable development goals,” he said.
In addition, the Chamber applauded the continued push to elevate the participation of indigenous communities from Sabah and Sarawak in the nation’s commercial landscape.
Ladislaus noted that their involvement in business has long been underrepresented and thanked the Federal Government for its inclusive and proactive stance.
He reaffirmed KCCI’s unwavering support for the government’s initiatives, describing the organisation as a steadfast partner and advocate for Sabah’s indigenous business community.
