SABAH RECORDS 57 NEW COVID-19 CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah registered a total of 57 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the tally of statewide Covid-19 infections to 53,793.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said of the total, 42 were close contacts to positive cases, eight showed symptoms and tested positive after screening, three detected in existing clusters, and the rest from other categories.



Keningau and Ranau both recorded the highest number of new cases each with 10, followed by Kudat (seven), Kota Kinabalu (six), Tawau (five), Kalabakan, Nabawan and Putatan each with three cases, Kota Belud, Penampang and Kunak each with two cases, and Sandakan, Papar, Beluran and Tambunan each with one case.


A total of 12 districts did not report new cases, namely Kota Marudu, Tuaran, Kinabatangan, Tenom, Lahad Datu, Telupid, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Semporna, Sipitang, Beaufort and Tongod.


"A total of 88 patients have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the cumulative total of statewide recoveries to 52,634.



"A total of 509 patients are still under treatment with 179 in the hospitals and 330 in the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres," said Masidi who is also Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson in a statement today.


He also added that a total of 15 patients are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU) with six of them ventilated.


No Covid-19 cluster was detected, however one death was reported today in Kinabatangan.
