SABAH RECORDS 87 NEW COVID-19 CASES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 87 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the tally of statewide infections to 59,349.


Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said 40 of the cases were detected through close contact screening while 21 were from new and existing clusters, 16 through symptomatic screening, and the rest from other categories.



"Kunak registered the highest number with 21 cases, followed by Kota Kinabalu (18 cases), Tawau (12), Kalabakan (12), Kinabatangan (five), Penampang (four), Tuaran (three), Semporna (two), Kota Belud (two), and Lahad Datu, Papar and Keningau each with one case," he said in a statement today.


According to Masidi, a total of 48 individuals have recovered today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in the state to 58,216.


The number of active cases now stands at 522 with 224 of them treated at hospitals and 298 in quarantine centres.


"A total of 37 patients are treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 22 of them ventilated."
