SABAH REGISTERS 121 NEW COVID-19 CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 121 new Covid-19 cases, maintaining the three-digit number, bringing the cumulative total of 57, 659.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two more deaths were also reported with one each in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau.



"Of the total, 62 were detected positive from close contact screening, 12 from symptomatic screening, 35 from new cluster and existing clusters and the rest from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Tawau recorded the highest number of new cases with 57, followed by Kota Kinabalu (20), Lahad Datu (18), Kinabatangan (14), Putatan (four), Kalabakan and Papar (two), Kunak, Tuaran, Nabawan, Telupid each recorded one case respectively.


Sixteen other districts did not report any new case, namely Sandakan, Penampang, Keningau, Kuala Penyu, Semporna, Kota Belud, Ranau, Kudat, Beluran, Beaufort, Sipitang, Pitas, Tambunan, Tenom, Kota Marudu, and Tongod.



"A total 93 patients have recovered and were discharged, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 55,987.


"Meanwhile, 988 are still receiving treatment with 292 at the hospitals and 688 in quarantine centres," said Masidi.


He added that 43 patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 20 of them ventilated.
