KOTA KINABALU: The Covid-19 cases in Sabah today have shot up to three digits with 160 cases, an increase of 65 cases compared to yesterday, bringing the cumulative total to 59,664.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two more deaths were also recorded today, each in Kunak and Sandakan.
According to Masidi, close contact screening recorded 70 cases, while 62 were detected in new and existing clusters, 23 through symptomatic screening, and five cases from other categories.
Tawau continues to record the highest number of cases today with 54, followed by Lahad Datu (29), Kota Kinabalu and Papar (each with 16 cases), Kuala Penyu (10), Semporna (eight), Kunak (six).
While Putatan and Kinabatangan each recorded four cases, Kalabakan, Penampang and Sandakan (each with three cases), Kota Belud (two), Beaufort and Keningau each with one case.
"The districts that did not record new cases today are Tuaran, Kota Marudu, Ranau, Sipitang Tenom, Kudat, Nabawan, Tambunan, Pitas, Beluran, Telupid and Tongod," he said in a press statement.
Masidi said a total of 68 patients had recovered today, bringing the cumulative number of discharges to 58,499 people.
"A total of 566 patients are currently receiving treatment, with 268 people at hospitals and 298 people at the Public Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres.
"The number of patients in the Intensive care unit (ICU) is 41 people and 21 are ventilated," he said.
