PENAMPANG: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Youth Chief for Sepanggar, Fardy Bungga, has voiced strong support for Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Member of Parliament for Penampang, who resigned from his ministerial post to defend Sabah’s 40% revenue rights under the Federal Constitution.
Fardy said Ewon who is also UPKO President's move shows real courage and integrity.
“Ewon’s resignation is not about Politics , it’s about standing up for Sabah. He proved that true leaders put principles and the people first, not power or position,” Fardy said.
He also urged the Federal Government to respect the High Court’s decision that confirmed Sabah’s right to 40% of net federal revenue collected from the state.
“The government should stop delaying and start paying what is rightfully ours. It’s a constitutional right, not a favour,” he added.
Fardy said Datuk Ewon’s stand represents the ‘Sabah First’ spirit, putting the state’s rights, dignity, and future above all else.
“This is the kind of leadership young people admire, brave, honest, and willing to sacrifice for the people. We need more leaders like him,” he said.
He called on all Sabah leaders, no matter their party, to unite and defend the state’s rights together.
“This fight is not about politics. It’s about justice for Sabah and our future,” Fardy said.
