KOTA KINABALU: The 11th Installation Art by the Bay @ KK will take place at Tanjung Aru Beach 2, in collaboration with the Tanjung Aru Beach Festival 2024, from September 20 to 22.
The event will be officially launched by Thonny Chee, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sri Pelancongan Sabah, at 4:30 PM on Friday, September 20.
Inspired by the theme "Striving for Sustainability," 13 teams will showcase their 3D installation art pieces and eco-sculptures at the venue.
According to event spokesperson Christianne Goonting, all artworks are created from waste and reusable or recyclable materials, including scrap metal, plastic, PVC, cardboard, tree branches, leaves, and fabric.
This year’s event features participation from teams in England, Denmark, Finland, Singapore, and Sabah, with a particular focus on student and family groups, she stated.
A total of 11 installation arts will be displayed at the beach, while two additional pieces will be showcased online from Denmark and Finland. These can be viewed on the event's Facebook page, along with videos and photographs of all participating teams.
Since its inception in 2014, Installation Art by the Bay @ KK has consistently promoted themes of environmental awareness and sustainability. Each installation is designed to convey the importance of operating based on four core values: Sustainable Development, Ecological Protection, Resource Conservation, and Environmental Leadership.
