KOTA KINABALU: Kadamaian State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick said Sabah needs to have its own Covid-19 pandemic recovery programme.

“I have not heard of initiatives or recovery programmes by the Sabah State Government other than the National Recovery Plan (PPN). The reliance on programmes created by the federal government does not reflect the leadership of the state government.

"We have our own challenges. That is why Sabah must have its own state recovery policy, programme and budget,” he told the media, today.

Ewon also expressed hope that the State Legislative Assembly can also be held so that assembly members can debate and submit views on the state recovery programme.

Meanwhile, Luyang State Assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe also stated the need to hold a State Assembly Session following the termination of the Emergency Ordinance.

Earlier, Ewon and Phoong lodged a police report on Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the Karamunsing Police Station.
