KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) has today urged the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to stop using the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and other government agencies as political tools.
Sabah MUDA (Pro-tem) chairman Shahrizal Denci said it is better for the government to focus on the country's recovery plan than "playing politics"
"With the ongoing crisis today, especially with Covid-19 cases skyrocketing and the death toll rising, we urge the government to stop playing politics and focus fully on the country's recovery plan," he said in a media statement.
Previously, MUDA president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was brought to court on two counts of misappropriating funds, under Sections 403 and 405.
Shahrizal said Saddiq and his team of lawyers are well prepared and that they are confident that the prosecution is politically driven.
“Intimidation and court action are not new, especially when the parliamentary session is nearing.
"Despite repeated pressure, he (Saddiq) remains steadfast in his stance not to support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government,” he added.
