KOTA BELUD: Datuk Ewon Benedict, the State Assemblyman for Kadamaian, has gained praise for his kind-heartedness and responsible actions towards the welfare of the people.

His recent presentation of a mini combine to the residents of Kg Tambatuon has been highly appreciated, as it enables them to harvest their paddy more efficiently.

The villagers of Kg Tambatuon collectively cultivate about 200 acres of land, relying on traditional methods such as using sickles or knives for paddy harvesting. This laborious process typically takes them two to three days to complete one portion (lot) of their paddy fields. However, with the introduction of the mini combine, their harvesting time is expected to be reduced by half.

Wolbert Saringan, Village Security and Development Chairman, expressed his gratitude to Ewon who is also the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) President, for this significant development.

Wolbert emphasised that the mini combine will provide a significant boost to the villagers, allowing them more time to engage in other post-harvest activities, such as winnowing and storing the paddy grains. Furthermore, it will also enable them to dedicate more attention to their orchards and cater to tourists, particularly those operating homestays.

In addition to the harvester, Ewon's generous touch point donation of RM5000 has also been greatly appreciated. This fund is allocated towards the repair of two bridges that have fallen into disrepair. By facilitating the restoration of these bridges, the Kg Tambatuon community will improve access for residents living on the other side of the river and facilitate travel for those wishing to cross. The repair and maintenance of these suspension bridges will be undertaken collectively by the residents of Kg Tambatuon.

“The contributions made by Datuk Ewon, who is the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative (MEDC) brought about positive change and greater convenience for the people of Kg Tambatuon,” Wolbert said.

Kg Tambatuon Kota Belud under the Kadamaian Constituency is a gem in the heart of Sabah. This picturesque village boasts a crystal-clear river that meanders down from the foot of the majestic Mount Kinabalu. Known for its invigorating air and peaceful atmosphere, Kg Tambatuon is a sought-after destination by tourists who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

The village is home to some 1200 people although the population shrinks to 900 as some of them work outside in the city and all over Malaysia. There are 98 homes that will welcome them during festive seasons, swelling the population again.

Visitors who come for the homestay experience usually stay with their hosts and experience the local way of life. These homestays provide a unique opportunity to learn about the culture, traditions, and customs of the local community in a comfortable and immersive environment.

“Tourists come to Kg Tambatuon to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and explore the natural wonders of the area. The river that flows through the village is a popular spot for swimming, fishing, and tubing. Visitors can also hike up to the nearby waterfalls, which offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests,” Wolbert shares.

Overall, Kg Tambatuon Kota Belud is a must-visit destination for anyone who wants to experience the beauty of Sabah and immerse themselves in the local culture. With its breathtaking scenery, invigorating air, peaceful atmosphere, and welcoming community, this village is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with nature.
