TWO NEW COVID-19 CLUSTERS, 70 NEW CASES IN SABAH

KOTA KINABALU: Two new clusters involving 31 cumulative cases have been registered in Kota Belud and Kinabatangan districts, today.
The Siasai Tamu cluster recorded one new Covid-19 case, bringing its cumulative cases to 11, while the Tenegang cluster recorded 19 new infections, with 20 cumulative cases.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Masidi Manjun said the index case for Siasai Tamu cluster was a 46-year-old pre-school female teacher.
"The individual conducted a symptomatic screening at a medical centre in Kota Belud. Based on the record, she attended a tahlil ceremony at her sister's house.
"Close contacts screening has identified six more positive cases among her household members. while four more tested positive after a workplace screening at the school. To date, a total of 162 residents in Kampung Siasai have undergone screening tests." he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, for the Tenegang cluster, the index case was a plantation factory worker who crossed district to meet his family and has tested positive after a symptomatic screening.
"A total of 19 more close contacts have tested postitive with seven involving factory workers and 12 were family members of the index case.
"Screening activities are still being actively conducted with an addition of Covid-19 sampling and disinfection works to assess any infection and the risk of possible spread to nearby plantations," Masidi disclosed.
Today, Sabah recorded 70 new cases while a total of 85 patients have recovered and were discharged.
"A total of 400 others are still being treated with 162 at the hospitals and 238 at the low risk quarantine centres."
