Warisan to GRS: Another state land given to private developer?

Samuel Wong

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) has today questioned if another piece of state government land has been given to private developers, at the expense of thousands of Sabahans.

In a statement, Warisan Kota Kinabalu Branch Chief Samuel Wong said his office received complaints on Thursday regarding the eviction notice issued to tenants at Wisma Koperasi Serbaguna Sanya Berhad (KOSAN) without proper eviction notice.

According to him, he has since then taken immediate action by meeting with a few shop tenants and KOSAN corporation members who are unhappy and feel victimised by the sudden eviction order.

"I am also informed by certain people that this is happening because the land Wisma KOSAN sits on has been used for the benefit of a private developer, sidelining the people.

"First of all, is the land where Wisma KOSAN sits on, a state government land? Did the government surrender this piece of land to private developers, at the expense of Sabahans?

"We would like the relevant parties to come clean if the land has been sold. And what is the ongoing development? What is the benefit for Sabahans, when this place has been serving Sabahans for decades?"

"Is it true that almost all KOSAN corporation members disagreed but somehow the decision was bulldozed by the Board of Directors? Is it true that this motion was not passed tabled or passed through the required AGM?"

Apart from the current state administration, Samuel also hopes Luyang State Assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe can assist with the issue.

"Perhaps Phoong who is the former Youth and Sports Minister who has the privilege to access such information can also assist in this issue. Hopefully, we can seek justice for the involved people and Sabahans."
