KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster in Kinabatangan has been detected involving a workplace infection.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the Sawit Perpaduan cluster had occurred in palm oil plantation in Sukau.
“The index case is a 34-year-old Indonesian man who works as a factory worker and tested positive on Aug 30 after having symptoms since Aug 26.
“He was then brought to Kinabatangan Hospital for further treatments,” he said in a statement today.
Following the case, 90 close contacts tested positive which includes the index case’s co-workers and family members.
“As of today, the cluster recorded a cumulative total of 91 positive cases including 82 new cases,” he stated.
