KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor has urged the people to continue nurturing the spirit of patriotism, safeguarding unity and preserving harmony among Sabah’s diverse races and religions.
In his joint Sabah Day and National Day 2025 message, Hajiji said the dual celebrations provide an opportunity to reflect on history, strengthen identity and deepen love for the state.
He noted that 31 August holds profound significance in Sabah’s history. “On this date, we celebrate both the National Day and Sabah Day — two commemorations that serve as unifying factors for Malaysians of all backgrounds,” he said.
Hajiji stressed that the day is not only for remembrance and celebration, but also a time to truly appreciate the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters who fought valiantly for independence.
He added that the National Day 2025 theme, “Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni”, and the Sabah Day 2025 theme, “Untukmu Sabah Tanah Airku”, carry a shared message grounded in the principles of Madani and the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan.
“Let us remain vigilant against any negative elements that could disrupt harmony and unity, leading to division,” he said.
