Covid-19: Sabah records 3,224 new cases, 23 deaths

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah continues to record staggering numbers of Covid-19 caseload with 3,224 cases today along with 23 deaths.


In a statement, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said this pushes the cumulative total of statewide infection to 131, 030.


"As usual, close contacts still contribute the highest number of positive cases with 2,098 which is more than 65 per cent of the total daily cases.


"This is followed by symptomatic screening (788), cluster screening with (75), targeted screening (53), and the rest in other categories,” he said in a statement today.


Masidi who is also the Covid-19 spokesperson for Sabah stated that 2,917 or 90.48 per cent of the total cases had either mild or no symptoms at all.


Meanwhile, Masidi said a total of 2,020 discharges were recorded today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 101,624.


The number of active cases now stands at 4,763 with 3,322 patients being treated in quarantine centres, 1,399 at hospitals, and the rest in temporary detention centres.


"To date, there are 182 patients currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit with 78 of them ventilated,” he added.
