Delay in SMK Kipouvo construction, water supply must be addressed - Ewon

PENAMPANG: The delay in Kipouvo Secondary School (SMK), Penampang construction project, and the school's water supply must be addressed before its completion in 2024, said Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.


He said that the implementation of the school construction was slightly delayed due to various factors including the uncertain weather conditions.


"I have requested that the water supply in this school be resolved before the school is fully ready. When it is ready, students can enroll without interruption of water supply or electricity," he said.


He said this when met by reporters after a work visit at Tamu Donggongon and SMK Kipouvo here today.


Also present were Director-General of the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) Datuk Ruji Ubi, Sabah Federal Secretary Dato' Makhzan Mahyuddin, Kapayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang, Penampang District Officer Francis Chong, heads of state, federal government departments and local leaders.


Ewon who is also the Penampang MP said that the construction of the school is expected to be completed in 2024.


“I hope it will be ready by the end of next year so that the students can enroll in this school in 2025," he said.


According Ewon, in order to monitor and ensure that the construction project is completed according to the set schedule, he has established a Monitoring Committee for Large-Scale Projects in Penampang.


"One of the roles of this committee is to monitor the construction of SMK Kipouvo. Every three months, we will meet to monitor the progress of the project implementation," he said.
