INFECTIONS IN WORKPLACE CAUSES TAWAU'S KG BERGOSONG CLUSTER

KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 involving a workplace was detected in Sabah today, said Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.

The Kg Bergosong cluster in Tawau has a cumulative total of 21 positive cases.

"The index case is a housewife from Kg Bergosong here who tested positive for the virus through symptomatic screening on April 13.

"Close contact tracing found eight more positive cases, including family members of the index case.

"Based on detailed observation, the index case was believed to have contracted the virus during a tahlil ceremony on April 8," he said in a statement today.

According to Masidi, workplace screening in Prosperous Plantation in Kg Bergosong was also conducted after one of the close contacts, a plantation worker, tested positive for Covid-19.

To date, close contact screening and investigation of cause of infection are still conducted actively.
