KOTA BELUD: The Kampung Saduk-Saduk surau would soon be sturdier after being upgraded and repaired following a contribution of building materials.
The building materials were from the Vice President of the STARSABAH Mohd Lin Harun and included cement, sand, stones, and steel.
The materials were handed over to the Surau Chairman, Dulamin Sulaiman, to kick-start a comprehensive refurbishment process, focusing on the construction of a more robust and safer concrete structure for the benefit of the local congregation.
Previously constructed entirely from timber, the surau was getting old and dilapidated and no longer provided a comfortable space for worshippers, particularly during inclement weather.
“This initiative is in line with STARSABAH’s commitment to strengthening facilities for houses of worship in Usukan. We want every community, regardless of size or location, to be able to worship in comfort and safety,” said Mohd Lin, who also serves as the STARSABAH Usukan Division Chief.
Also present during the handover were the Surau Deputy Chairman, Sarbi Derak; STARSABAH Usukan Deputy Division Chief, Iman Samar; Division Committee Members Jalis Salip and Muhiddin, as well as several local villagers.
The residents welcomed the assistance, describing it as a continued gesture of care from the STARSABAH leadership for the welfare of the grassroots community.
