KUALA LUMPUR: The 12th Malaysia International Halal Showcase Awards (MIHAS Awards) will return in 2025, continuing its mission to recognise outstanding achievements within the global Halal industry.
Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), nominations for this year's awards, focusing on innovation and sustainability, are currently open to all credible Malaysian exporters within the local halal ecosystem. The awards will be held alongside MIHAS 2025, scheduled from 17 to 20 September 2025, with the MIHAS Awards taking place on 20 September.
The awards comprise two main categories. The first is the MIHAS Products and Services Excellence Award, which honours excellence in export performance, product or service quality, digitalisation, brand strength, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) impact. The second is the MIHAS Innovation & Sustainability Award, recognising businesses that incorporate ESG principles and align their operations with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Additionally, the MIHAS Awards committee has introduced a new category: the Emerging Star Award, designed to highlight promising new entrants demonstrating potential and positive impact within the halal sector.
Participation in the awards offers more than just the chance to win; it provides global visibility, enhances brand credibility, and opens pathways to new markets.
Entrants will have an opportunity to showcase leadership in halal innovation, sustainability, and integrity, aligning with Malaysia’s vision to shape a more inclusive and resilient global halal economy.
MATRADE Chairman Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said, “The MIHAS Awards continue to serve as a powerful platform to honour visionary businesses shaping the future of the global halal economy. In 2025, we are proud to once again recognise companies that not only meet the highest halal standards but also lead through innovation, sustainability, and social impact. These awards reflect MATRADE’s unwavering commitment to advancing Malaysia’s leadership in the halal industry and fostering inclusive, sustainable trade on the global stage.”
Reflecting on last year’s achievements, MATRADE CEO Dato’ Sri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said,“Last year’s awards celebrated 14 outstanding winners, showcasing the strength and diversity of the halal sector. This year, we look forward to even greater participation, especially from emerging players in the industry who demonstrate innovation, integrity, and excellence that define Malaysia’s halal landscape. Together, we can inspire more businesses to adopt halal principles and reinforce Malaysia’s position as a global halal leader.”
Last year’s winners included brands like Adabi’s halal-certified pet food and AFM Fulfillment’s e-commerce solutions, exemplifying the sector’s diversity and strength. This year, we aim to encourage both established leaders and rising stars to share their stories and inspire excellence across the halal industry.
Winners are selected by a distinguished panel of industry and academic experts through a rigorous evaluation process that considers quality, sustainability, impact, and halal compliance.
