KUALA LUMPUR: Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has directed all relevant agencies to take swift and firm action to address operational, security and service-related issues at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and major tourist destinations, in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) .

In a Facebook posting, Tiong said the directive was issued during a meeting he chaired at a hotel in Sepang on Thursday, which focused on several areas requiring urgent attention to enhance the overall passenger experience.

“KLIA is the nation’s main international gateway and must reflect the highest standards of hospitality, safety and professionalism,” he said.

Among the key issues discussed were the need to increase police presence and visibility for security control, improve the cleanliness of public toilets, strengthen the efficiency of security screening, regulate porter behaviour and enhance connectivity between airport terminals.

Tiong said the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) would closely monitor the implementation of all improvement measures to ensure they are carried out without delay.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Tourism Malaysia and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB).
