KOTA KINABALU: As the Sabah election campaign nears to the end, police reports filed by various parties have reached a total of 85, according to officials. Despite some reports involving misconduct and social media violations, authorities assure that the campaign has proceeded smoothly overall.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said, “We have received a total of 85 police reports related to the election campaign. Of these, 53 investigation papers have been opened. The reports involve issues such as damage to campaign materials and allegations of treachery, but they do not impede the overall process of the election.”
He also revealed that over 7,288 permits have been issued to campaign participants, ensuring proper management of logistics and events. No reports of lost identification cards have been received so far, and officials assured the public that any such cases would be verified with the Election Commission before voting.

Jauteh emphasised that the reports do not pose a threat to the smooth conduct of the ongoing election. He highlighted the deployment of more than 1,200 personnel from external contingents, including teams from Sarawak and Bukit Aman, to maintain security and order across key areas.
“As the campaign period nears the end, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and take extra security measures, if necessary,” he said.
