KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Retired Educators Association (PMPS) has called on former educators across the state to actively participate in the association’s initiatives, following its inaugural Committee Meeting held at Wisma Wanita, Kota Kinabalu.

The meeting marked a significant milestone in PMPS’s journey to establish a cohesive administrative structure and to empower retired educators to continue contributing meaningfully to society.

It was chaired by PMPS President, Dr Aslie Sahat, and attended by District Liaison Committee representatives from across Sabah, including district chairpersons and secretaries who play a crucial role in planning grassroots-level activities.

Secretary-General Alli Majittaba and Treasurer-General Haji AK Jiar Pg Haji Duraman presented updates on the association’s annual action plan and financial standing, outlining a proactive roadmap for the year ahead.

Dr Aslie also presented the association’s constitution, outlining PMPS’s vision and clarifying the framework for programme implementation and governance at both the state and district levels.

The session began with a meet-and-greet among committee members, aimed at fostering closer relationships and enhancing collaboration across all zones.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the ceremonial presentation of Appointment Letters to PMPS’s top committee members, officiated by Dr Aslie himself. This symbolised a collective commitment to leadership, unity, and service in steering PMPS forward.

In his address, Dr Aslie announced that PMPS has received formal registration from the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS), granting it official recognition as a legitimate entity championing the interests of retired educators in Sabah.

“PMPS is open to all retired teachers in Sabah. We invite every former educator to register as a member in their respective districts and join us in shaping a vibrant, supportive community,” he said.

He added that membership in PMPS offers retirees a valuable platform to remain actively engaged through meaningful activities, social interaction, and ongoing community development initiatives tailored to their strengths and experience.

With District Liaison Committees now established across the state, PMPS is poised to raise awareness of its objectives and guide members in understanding their continued role in educational and societal development beyond retirement.

Dr Aslie further emphasised that PMPS aspires to be more than just a social network. It stands as a unifying body, bringing together the wisdom, experience, and enduring dedication of retired educators to serve as a lasting pillar for future generations.
