KENINGAU : The health of retirees remains a priority as the Sabah Government Pensioners Association (PPKS), Keningau Branch, organised a comprehensive health screening programme today in collaboration with health officers from Keningau. The event was held at the Keningau Youth and Sports Department Hall.
The programme included blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, cholesterol readings, body mass index (BMI) measurements, vision screening, health counselling sessions, healthy eating advice, awareness talks on non-communicable diseases, health-related exhibitions, and a Q&A session with medical officers.
PPKS Central Vice President, Tuan Haji Raisin, was present alongside Branch Chairman, Salehuddin Adiloh @ Tahir, and members of the PPKS Keningau Branch Committee to lend their moral support and engage with the retirees.
Deputy Chairperson of the PPKS Keningau Branch, Rozie Gitang, expressed that programmes such as this are highly meaningful as they offer retirees the opportunity to monitor their health regularly and free of charge.
“We truly appreciate PPKS’s efforts not only in safeguarding our welfare but also in ensuring our health is continuously monitored. It encourages us to remain active and continue contributing to the community,” she said.
The Chairman of PPKS Keningau also extended his appreciation to the Youth and Sports Department for allowing the use of the hall, while expressing his commitment to organising more health-related programmes in the future.
“Health is our most valuable asset in continuing to enjoy a quality life,” he stated.
This initiative highlights that the welfare of retirees should not only be remembered at the point of retirement, but continually strengthened to ensure their well-being in their golden years.
