KENINGAU: A total of 21 Peer Counsellor Board (PRS) students from Semester 3, 2024/25 session, of SMK Bingkor’s Pre-University Programme (PTEM), together with four teacher-advisers, successfully carried out a community service and charity contribution programme at the Sabah Association for the Deaf, Keningau Branch, recently.
The programme, aimed at fostering volunteerism, social awareness and community responsibility, began with the group’s arrival, where they were warmly welcomed by the association.
Project Director Muhammad Nur Hazim, in his welcoming remarks, explained that the monetary contribution was raised through a week-long Charity Sale of Preloved Clothes, Novels and Magazines, which received strong support from students, teachers and non-teaching staff of SMK Bingkor.

The donation was handed over by Muhammad Nur Hazim to the association’s coordinator, Francisca, to support special education needs at the school.
In addition, PRS students took part in a gotong-royong activity to clean the school grounds, as well as a sign language learning session with teachers of hearing-impaired children, further strengthening ties between the school and the local community.
According to PRS Chief Teacher-Adviser, Angelin Linus, the programme provided a platform for students to develop character and civic awareness.
“This programme is not merely a co-curricular activity, but an effort to build empathy and appreciation towards people with disabilities,” she said.
PRS SMK Bingkor also expressed gratitude to all teacher-advisers , Ema Suriati Mohd. Ridzuan, Justine Salim, Mariam Halim and Jahari Laji @ Mohd Fazril Abdullah, as well as the students who contributed with full dedication to the programme’s success.
