KENINGAU: The Vice President of the Sabah Gana Association (PGS), Julian F. Lian @ Mohd Hafiz, has condemned a TikTok video alleged to have insulted the Kadazan-Dusun-Murut-Rungus (KDMR) communities in Sabah. The 1 minute 26 second clip is said to feature the Keningau Oath Stone, a symbol of Sabah’s history and unity.
Julian, a former District Chief (KD) of Keningau, backed the call made by Carl Moosom, Political Secretary to the UPKO President, urging the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate, remove the video, and prevent its spread across all social media platforms, including TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.
“Insulting the KDMR ethnic groups and demeaning the Oath Stone is a threat to social harmony. Immediate legal action must be taken to preserve the unity and peace of the state,” Julian stressed.
The video reportedly contains offensive remarks against the Kadazan, Dusun, Murut and Rungus peoples, using the Keningau Oath Stone as its backdrop, an emblem of Sabah’s unity and rights.
Julian also called on the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to investigate and take legal action against the individual or parties involved.
He emphasised that such provocative acts not only affect Sabah but also risk damaging inter-ethnic relations on a national scale. He urged the people of Sabah to remain united, vigilant, and committed to maintaining social harmony while respecting the rights of all communities.
“Sabah thrives in its diversity. Insults and provocations will not weaken the spirit of the people who cherish peace, unity, and the history of this state,” Julian added.
