KENINGAU: The Aelma Keningau Taekwondo Club has received strong backing ahead of its participation in the 14th Open Labuan Taekwondo Championship, scheduled to take place from 26 to 27 July 2025 in the Federal Territory of Labuan.
Support came from Liawan Assemblyman, Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman, who contributed funds to the club, which will represent the district on the national stage.
The donation was presented by Mohamad Raihan Jinode, Operations Assistant at the Liawan State Constituency Service Centre, and was received by Dayang Nur Dhaniyah, the club’s official representative.
During the handover, Raihan conveyed a message from Datuk Annuar, encouraging youth to engage actively in combat sports such as Taekwondo — a discipline that not only builds physical strength but also nurtures key values such as discipline, focus, and resilience, all vital in shaping future leaders.
"This is more than just financial aid. It is a gesture that shows there are leaders who recognise and appreciate your efforts. Make the most of this opportunity — compete with courage and return with pride," he said on Annuar’s behalf.
Participation in prestigious tournaments such as this not only offers a platform for competition but also raises the profile of Keningau and Sabah on the national stage.
Support from elected representatives acts as a catalyst for youth development through sport, promoting a healthier and more progressive society.
