CYBERJAYA: The University of Cyberjaya (UoC) welcomes the Government’s progressive vision for education and talent development as articulated in the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (RMK13) and the National AI Action Plan 2030. These strategic frameworks mark a decisive move towards nurturing ethical, digitally fluent, and globally competitive Malaysians, aspirations that are fully aligned with UoC’s mission.
Prof. David Whitford, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cyberjaya, remarked, “RMK13 is not merely a plan for national development; it is a roadmap for reshaping Malaysia’s human capital landscape. We commend its emphasis on character-building, AI literacy, digital skills, and entrepreneurship, all of which are integrated into our programmes.”
As a university specialising in healthcare and technology, UoC is dedicated to embedding AI exposure and digital competencies across all disciplines. The institution supports lifelong learning through flexible pathways and adult education initiatives, whilst also prioritising graduate employability via mandatory internships, active employer engagement, and the development of soft skills.
“The government’s commitment to paid, compulsory internships and the introduction of new metrics for graduate outcomes directly support the initiatives we have been advancing to enhance real-world readiness,” Prof. Whitford observed. “Our graduates already benefit from strong industry linkages and a curriculum infused with soft skills, resulting in high employability rates.”
Furthermore, UoC endorses the RMK13 proposal for pilot autonomy for universities, recognising this as a vital step towards fostering greater innovation, agility, and accountability within higher education. The University is prepared to collaborate closely with both public and private stakeholders to ensure that high-impact research, academic excellence, and internationalisation remain central to Malaysia’s tertiary education landscape.
“The University of Cyberjaya is ready to play its part in supporting Malaysia’s ambition to become a top 30 global economy and a top 20 innovation nation by 2030,” Prof. Whitford stated. “The future begins with the talent we nurture today.”
