KENINGAU: Young women in Liawan are set to take centre stage in the local sports scene following strong support from Liawan State Assemblyman Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman, who has channelled dedicated funding to empower female athletes through the 2025 N.41 Liawan Closed Volleyball Tournament.

The special financial contribution was officially handed over by Heldahwati Juhasin, Community Development Supervisor at UPPM Liawan, to Noorhayati Faizura Juspin, Chairperson of the tournament's organising committee, during a brief ceremony held at the UPPM Liawan Office.

The tournament, scheduled to take place later this month, is set to bring together volleyball teams from across the Liawan constituency.

It aims to be more than just a sporting competition, it is a platform for young women to develop leadership, teamwork, and confidence through active sports participation.

“This support is not only about funding an event, it’s about believing in the potential of young women in our community,” said Noorhayati.

“We are grateful for Annuar’s commitment to uplifting female athletes and ensuring they have the same opportunities to shine.”

The funds will be used for sports equipment, logistics, and overall event management to ensure smooth execution of the tournament.
